Scholarship & Grant Application

The Tulsa Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation

Scholarship Guidelines

Intent:  The Tulsa Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation Scholarship Program has been established to support post-secondary school education for those in financial need.  Specifically, it is intended to benefit ”those students who might fall through the cracks” of other scholarship

and grant-in-aid programs.

Guidelines of the Program:

·         The Foundation Board will consider only applications made for funding a single academic year or term.

·         No specific amount of funding per award is set.   Award amounts will be determined on a case-by-case basis, as well as by the amount of funds available and the number of awards granted.

·         Any qualified person can apply to the Scholarship Program, irrespective of relationship to Sunrise Rotary Club or Sunrise Rotary Foundation Board members.  Throughout the process, diligence will be exercised to avoid conflicts of interest.

·         Advertisement of the program will be made by announcements during regularly scheduled Sunrise Rotary Club meetings and by word-of-mouth.  Sunrise Rotarians are encouraged to nominate deserving candidates.

·         To be considered for an award, students must submit a completed application form and all required supporting documentation in order to establish their qualifications and adherence to the intent of the Program.

·         Scholarships requesting funding for additional terms may be approved at the Board’s discretion.  Proof of satisfactory academic progress must be submitted with all requests for additional term funding.

Qualifications:

General qualifications for scholarship consideration follow:

·         An actual financial need must exist.

·         A Sunrise scholarship should not diminish the amount of other scholarship awards.

·         The applicant must have earned, as a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.

·         If the applicant does not have post-secondary educational experience, but does have

a high school diploma, the high school record must reflect a 2.5 GPA (out of 4.0).

·         If the applicant has post-secondary educational experience, then that record should reflect at least a 2.5 GPA (out of 4.0).

·         The scholarship can only be utilized for post-secondary education, including technical and trade schools located in Oklahoma.

Application Process:  The Foundation Board requires completion of a standardized application     form and associated documentation to be submitted to it for consideration.  This includes the    submitting of a copy of the high school transcript or GED, whichever is applicable.  The     Board’s decisions are determined by majority vote and are final.
